"Not Alone" is an oil pastel painting that conveys a raw, tactile intimacy, making the emotions feel immediate, unfiltered, and profoundly human. The woman depicted in the artwork is depicted suffering, particularly during late-night hours, as she feels she is alone. She is suspended in a state of quiet despair, and it remains unclear whether the presence she senses is a shadow, a memory, or something more protective. The piece explores the tension between isolation and connection. The blurred contours and softened edges reflect the instability of the inner world, where identity often dissolves and reformulates.

As David Bowie once sang, “Don’t let the sun blast your shadow.” This artwork encourages us to find beauty in our difficult moments. It reminds us not to avoid our darkness but to acknowledge it, sit with it, and recognize it as an essential part of our journey toward self-discovery.
