Rock art figures inspire Sonnets of the Sea. Their simplicity and their remarkable ability to tell history across millions of years inspire me deeply. In my homeland, the Northeast of Brazil, the soil is hot, dry, and scorched by the sun. How many lives might have crossed that land? I keep imagining how much history it still has to tell us.
